Spring Heeled Jack wins Philip K Dick Award
posted by Emma on April 23, 2011 11:52 AM
OMG! Mark Hodder's Spring Heeled Jack has just won the Philip K Dick Award! There's nothing on their website yet but here's a photo of the (extremely lovely) US publisher Lou Anders accepting the award.
I am so excited! [does winning-prizes dance]

Very pleased for you, Mark! Well done :)

Bit cheeky of Snowbooks to claim a victory here as its the US edited version that was up for award not the UK version. but congrats to Mark Hodder and PYR BOOKS

I don't see Snowbooks as claiming a victory, rather celebrating their author's success. Well done to him!

Unless I'm mistaken, it was Snowbooks who first took the chance, made the investment and published the novel. So congrats are in order for both Snowbooks and Pyr, but most of all for Mark. It's a hell of an achievement to have one's debut novel win such a major SF award.

Ive read both US and Uk editions and I have to say the PYR edition which won was by far the better edited version, hense me saying that Snow books shouldnt claim victoryas in saying *I am so excited! [does winning-prizes dance]*.Unless you disagree that authors books are edited the same way for both editions?
I anticipate your response

Hi, Sam – are you saying that if it wasn’t for PYR’s award-winning editing, Mark wouldn’t have won the award? If yes, I’d be quite offended if I were Mark. If no, I think Snowbooks is entitled to have a little boogie-woogie.

Hi Sam. I refer you to my previous response :)

Exactly! Well done to all concerned. And I think it's perfectly right for Emma to be excited and proud and do a prize-winning dance.
