I look away for one minute...

... and what happens? One of my authors goes zooming off onto Newsnight and talks to the Guardian and the Bookseller and goodness knows who else, because she came up with a particularly brilliant plan to stage Alternative World Book Night (where people actually buy books, kerrayzee idea, no?) Prolific, Carnegie-nominated wonder woman Nicola Morgan, author of our forthcoming Write to be Published, blogs at www.helpineedapublisher.blogspot.com and goodness me, if you read the Snowblog but not her blog you're in for a treat. Preorder her book from The Book Depository.
In other news, we are out of hospital and Ro is on the mend, although he's still got a temperature. Thanks for the kind words. Last week was hell. Very happy to be home. I still have a fair bit of catching up to do, so thanks for your patience and do feel free to email to nag me.

Really great to hear Ro's on the mend!
That's a cracking blog - I've pimped it around facebook :D

Nicola's book pre-ordered with considerable pleasure.

I should add that I too am very glad that Ro is on the mend

I too am glad to learn that Ro's doing better.
Oh dear, yet another book about how to write in order to get published? While I certainly appreciate that publishing is a business, just imagine if David Foster Wallace had actually followed this sort of advice instead of writing Infinite Jest...

Lee, it's interesting that you should say that, as I struggle, sometimes, to find good advice re: the publishing trade!
I've just returned from P-Con (Dublin) where - after 3 years as a published author and one bestselling book under my arm - I first learned how to write a good synopsis (thanks to a workshop ran by Dr George Green and author Juliet E. McKenna). Sure, there's advice online, but - as far as I can see - nothing as clear and helpful as what George and Juliet were able to offer me.
I'm pleased to hear about this book and will certainly be picking up a copy.

Blimey, Emma, where did you get that pic of me??! And yes, as you say, I did get myself on Newsnight, through no effort of my own. Crikey, imagine if I made an effort!
In other news, my sodding author website has been hacked. Do you have a really painful weapon handy??
