There's a simply cracking article here by Thomas Emson on how he writes. Do read it - if only to see the photo of the ultra-scary Plot Board. And his cat.

Geez, Thomas! You'll give us writers a bad name with all that talk of getting up late and lunchtime telly! Emma, maybe you need to give him another 8 books to write to fill up those lazy afternoons! :D

But seriously, that's a really good article. Down to earth with solid, tangible advice that blows a hole through some of the myths out there about how to succeed as a writer.

Loving the Pullman quote, too. His Northern Lights trilogy are the only children's books I remember enjoying, save for Z for Zachariah (and god knows who thought that nastty little apocalyptic gem was suitable for kids?!).

Best of luck for your future projects, Thomas, whatever you decide to do.
