First their banks, now this

I've really got out of the habit of watching the news on telly, so you've probably all seen better images than this. But just in case you haven't, click on the thumbnail to see a vast, reddish cloud of volcanic ash encroaching on North-West Europe.

Arrrgh! We're all doomed! I'm spending weekend in my personal bunker and expect to emerge next week to a post-apocalyptic cityscape.

I did have a minor day-after-tomorrow moment about this. Without wishing to alarm anyone, what if this started happening on a regular basis (potentially possible, the same volcano errupted last month and is still going) and created a no-fly zone over the UK &/or various regions of NW europe dependent on the whim of the jet stream? idea for a book anyone?

In NE Scotland, where I live, the air was distinctly sulphurous this morning! Last days of Pompeii anyone?
