Speaking at TOC 2010!
posted by Emma on November 2, 2009 09:35 AM

I am so excited to report that we have won a slot at TOC next year. When I say 'we', I mean Onix Central (the publishing software company we also run, if you didn't know). It's a 10 minute slot entitled 'Creating a catalogue in under 10 minutes'.
To show you what I mean, here's an offer. Name a publishing company in the comments here, and as soon as I notice it (Roberrysaurus and other things permitting) I'll create and upload a pdf catalogue of that company's top 50 books published in 2009, using bibliographic data gathered from the public domain. Yes, it is magic. Yes, you can find out more if you email me.
Go!

Continuum

Can you do American publishers? How about Behler Publishing? It's a smallish American independent press, so might not have fifty titles out there yet--but it's not terribly well-known over here, so should present a challenge for you.
(Do feel free to ignore me if I'm suggesting something inappropriate--you might only want UK publishers, or big boys, in which Behler isn't for you. But I'm very interested in this clever thing of yours.)

Continuum's catalogue here. I got a bit flash and did the top 500 titles, not 50, so even as a low res pdf it's 3mb. Remember: this is just a sampler - the layout could be anything you like.

And here's Behler's - just three titles published in 2009. At least, those are the ones available in the UK.

Wow - thanks Emma, that's pretty impressive!

Curtsey! Do let me know if you'd like help with your real catalogue.

Oh my! I'm so honored I could just fly around my office all day. The catalogue is lovely. I would love to find out more about this!
