I wrote a guest post for How Publishing Really Works. Read it here. I note that one miserable person clicked on the button to signify that it was 'not helpful'. I'm so sorry, sir or madam. I'll try to be more helpful in future.

Emma, I noticed that "not helpful" click too, and can only assume that the person who did it was after information on knitting custard. Because it would be no help at all with that. If, however, someone was after a little insight into how books can be promoted effectively through the retail sector then your post would be especially helpful.
So thank you so much for writing that piece for my blog: it's far more useful than the sort of stuff I usually dollop out, and your effort is much appreciated by me, and by most of my readers (apart from the custard-knitting ones, obviously).

I didn't mean to sound as sulky as I did, Jane! It was a pleasure. And your blog is always totally absorbing.

You're rated as 13/2 on the helpful/not helpful score right now, Emma. So that's two custard-knitters who read my blog.
I didn't think you were sulky at all. And thanks for the kind words about my blog. They, too, are most appreciated.

On occasion, I've known Em to be most unhelpful. I might go over there and click on the Useless Lummox button of which you speak just to get my protest on record.

I just gave you an extra "helpful" that bumps you up to 17/3. Your article is very interesting. I assume the "not helpful" votes are from people who sell advertising for a living LOL.

Hey! I help the whole time! Like, well, I can't think of an exact example but I bet I've helped you really recently! Yeah.

Emma's running at 18/3 now (I feel a bit like we're betting on a horse now), but since I posted my pompous comment no one else has dared contribute. Sorry, Emma, for scaring everyone away.
I've just checked, and a lot of my visitors today have arrived via this lovely Snowblog. The rest seem to have come from Book2Book which linked to a piece of mine today. Thank goodness for the two of you sending a few people over, or I'd have been Johnny No Mates today!
