<sarcasm>After 9 months plus of not touching a drop, this is bloody marvellous news. </sarcasm>

Emma - I sympathise. Those doctors are far too quick to tell us what and what not to do, though I don't remember fancying a lot to drink in those distant days when I was 'with child'. However I do remember enjoying a glass of stout while breast-feeding - with no ill effects to anyone concerned (well not that I know of).
Wishing you and Rowan many peaceful nights ...

I suppose the only thing you can do to make up for the lack of boozing when pregnant is send him to school.

I heard so many mothers and mid-wives on Jeremy Vine's R2 show last Friday to prove to me that the whole Guinness/Stout thing is not a myth.

Therefore, isn't it about time that a pint of Stout should be prescribed on the NHS to all expectant mothers?

I have a tendency to have premature babies and when I was pregnant with my last two boys, my consultant instructed me to get terribly, horribly drunk very quickly if I started contracting and wasn't within a few minutes of the hospital. Apparently alcohol reduces contractions, and used to be used to delay labour before there were better drugs available.

Not sure I'd fancy the added sickness, though.
