LHC rap

Rob pointed me at this. It is very excellent and tells you all about the shenanigans at CERN.
And, as ever on YouTube, the comments are both mystifying and often amusing. For instance:
"omfg calm down take some chill pills dude its not gonna make a black hole"
Rob's comment: Just for people keeping tracking of these things, they haven't collided anything with anything else yet. They're planning to run some slower beams into each other in a few days and then turn the power up in a few weeks. Not that this machine will destroy the world, but if it were going to do so, it wouldn't do it yet.

At last! I have trawled every blog I ever read looking for someone who even seemed to be aware of the goings on at CERN - which surely matter just a fraction more than, for example, the US election or the Booker shortlist. It's so exciting - reminds me of the men landing on the Moon (for which, dear Em, you were not even a twinkle in your mother's eye but it was wonderful - reality TV at its unbeatable best).
Anyway, brilliant, brilliant stuff. I just think we're so clever. And special congratulations to Guy's mate Mike, who's doing his PhD there.
Right, off for a cold shower and a lie down now.

Did you know that the keyboard player from D:Ream is one of the scientists in charge?

I didn't, but I think it's time someone did a study into the crossover between entertainers and physicists. There seem to be a lot of them, especially musicians and comics.
