Here are some pics I took at the weekend of my new house. They don't really convey the lovely cottageyness of it all, so I might try again at the weekend. No curtains yet, you'll note, but who needs curtains. They only get covered with cat fur, anyway. Ooh, on that note, top tip from my lovely sister-in-law - don a pair of rubber gloves and run your hands over anything covered in cat fur. It totally gets it off, first time. Genius!
I have so far remained pretty much at zero tolerance of mess since moving in. Everywhere's stayed hoovered, folded, dusted, washed, clear, and in order, as appropriate. I've been doing the Flylady stuff. Try it - it works.

My home office, featuring crazy Affinity Bridge screen saver and trophy shelf:

Some shelves. We have a whole wall of these all ready to be filled up:

Look at that shiny kitchen floor!

What?

*Love* the sofa. But the bookshelf photo is one of those that you NEED to see in high res. I recognise some familiar covers. But is that a book about the band The Fall, or a Camus book, or...?

Beautiful cottage - reminiscent of one we rent in St Ives for holidays.
And Iain Banks! Hurrah.

What a genuinely lovely house. And very nice to see the sets of Iain Banks and Jim Butcher - you must let me know if you're missing any, by the way. If you like the latter, have you tried Mike Carey? - Another of mine, London's answer to the Dresden Files and very good indeed.

Gorgeous!
Your kitty looks quite a bit like one of mine, there.

Very smart indeed. I see you've got all the Thursday Next books, including first among sequels which reminds me I haven't read it yet. I lent Rob my copy of the Eyre affair about 6 years ago...hmm don't think i got it back

Lawks - is your desk that tidy all of the time? I must put some pics up of my office for the edification of those like me who work in chaos!

The in-tray looks too close to the printer for my liking... apart from that, lovely. :)
Anyway, I'm moving myself: just waiting for the floor to be laid downstairs and the settee brought in and it'll be done - well, apart from a mound of paper on my desk that needs to be sorted.

Naughty, naughty - no copy of my book on your shelf, when I've got several of yours! But very nice home ...

Beautiful cottage but a seriously scary desk! Some of the piles of paper on mine are taller than me! Yours has no paper!! How do you do it??

Dave: damn right it's gorgeous paintwork, which deserves a forthcoming blog post of its very own.
Julie: not Camus, but McBride: the first in the God's End series published by one Snowbooks company.
Chris: good luck!
George: ooh, Mike Carey, never read any of his but Andy and I were very excited to hear your recommendation and have bought a few this weekend! Thanks for the tip - 'London's answer to the Dresden files' is right up our street. We have all Iain and Iain M Banks, plus a couple of first editions - one of my favourite authors - and all the Dresden files, come to think of it...what good customers we are.
