And here's an award we didn't win...

... but I thought it might be fun to share our entry. Download the PDF for our e-publishing entry for the IPA. On re-reading it, it's a bit frivolous and content-free so I can totally see why we didn't get shortlisted!

Hi Emma,
Since coming across Snowbooks when voting for "Needle in the Blood" last week, I have been so impressed with what you've achieved. I definitely think you should have won the award. I judge a couple of awards (not publishing) and thought your entry was full of detail and info. Given how small your operation seems to be and how massive, creative and wide ranging your output, I really don't know how you do it. Sarah (Bower) says you've been brilliant in every way for her.
I left a comment in response to your flexible working post last week because when I'm not writing I'm an expert in work-life balance. There's no doubt that your flexible attitude to how, when and where work gets done gets the best business results, but yours are really outstanding.
And I'm not just saying that because I've also submitted my latest novel to you! I had my first published by Macmillan New Writing, who were/are wonderful, with the benefits, but also some restrictions, of a big, established player.
I've passed on, too, the details of Snow Angels to a friend who has started her own publishing business.
Congratulations on all of it.
Cheers,
Lucy

Blimey, Lucy, thanks!

Any time :-)
If you want another award for Snowbooks, keep an eye out for this year's Employer Award - http://www.workingfamilies.org.uk/asp/awards/a_EYA_awards_2006.asp .
You've just missed this/last year's Best Boss award, which I'm involved in judging at the moment, but get someone to nominate you later this year:

They're both about making flexible working work.
