Various and sundry

First, a complaint. I upgraded to Adobe CS3 software in May 2007. Well, I say upgraded - I was recommended by the supplier to buy CS2 and use adobe's free upgrade to CS3. "It'll be cheaper and simple," they said.
So, here we are in August. I'm still waiting. I've downloaded the trial versions but it's now been so long, they've expired. All I need is a serial number, as I've got the software from their trial download. I just need the serial number. I JUST NEED THE SERIAL NUMBER. I shouted this a number of times at them over email and down the phone to Belgium, or wherever their customer services is - it appears they can't hear me.
Don't make me pirate software, Adobe. Don't make me...
In other news, here's an interesting article related to Going Postal.
Next up: Sue, co-author of Plotting for Beginners, has won a blogging award!
Ed at Myrmidon - who, in their second year of trading have got onto the Booker list - very sweetly said in PN that Snowbooks is a role model to them. Cool!
Finally, if there are any keen cyclists reading, I'm thinking of doing a sort of Avon club for City Cycling. If you recommend the book to your cycling friends, and get them to email their order to me, I will give you some sort of treat, or commission, or something. Email me if you're interested in setting something up.
Fin.

Emma - Are you doing anything in conjunction with this: www.londonfreewheel.com for your City Cycling book. I envisage Friends of Snowbooks cycling around London in City Cycling T-shirts or the like.

Hi Matthew - thanks for the comment. Yes, I'm in discussions with them and they seem keen!

Hi Emma,
It sounds like Adobe did their usual "offer you the trial, but not the full product". Usually if it's a free upgrade, there is a coupon inside which you need to redeem. If you didn't have this, I'd check with your supplier first. If you need to get up and running again, you'll need to uninstall the whole thing, then reinstall CS2.
If you did redeem a voucher, you should have received an e-mail, or letter with your serial. Do you remember filling out any online forms detailing that you had a free upgrade code, or is it possible that you just downloaded the trial? (which would still require you to fill out a lot of information) Have another check in the box, in case there is a voucher with a code on it.
According to the Adobe website, they have had a big backlog of orders for the new version, so it could be that you're just caught up in that. Royal mail strikes will not have helped, so maybe it's been held up or lost. Please see this article

Hope this helps.

Sebastian, it's sweet of you to try to help. It's a different deal - bog standard CS2 bought via a third party provider, then dealing direct with Adobe for the upgrade programme they always run for the transition to a new release. It's not a voucher thing. I will announce with glee when I get it!

Emma
I remembered this post this morning when I saw an article about CS3 upgrades in the Technology section of today's (16/8/07) Guardian nespaper. It seems you are not alone struggling with this. There is actually a feature on how unstable CS3 is and adobe's response to a clamour of complaints.
